Sam Walton-Sexton is a halfback with New Zealand representative honours, including New Zealand Age Grade, New Zealand Māori XV, New Zealand Ambassadors XV and the New Zealand Heartland XV.

Following involvement in the Northland NPC high-performance programme in 2025, Walton-Sexton enjoyed a standout season, earning selection as a finalist for National Heartland Player of the Year at the New Zealand Rugby Awards. Before being selected for the New Zealand Heartland XV tour to Samoa.

A genuine triple-threat No. 9, Walton-Sexton combines strong game management with accurate passing, tactical kicking and a dangerous running game. He thrives on controlling the tempo of matches, making decisions under pressure and creating opportunities for those around him.

Walton-Sexton is recognised for leadership, professionalism, coachability and relentless work ethic. Also demonstrating a proven ability to adapt quickly to new environments, capable of making an immediate impact in high-performance and finals environments. Having successfully played in Spain, Canada and Australia, where he integrated seamlessly into new team cultures and made an immediate impact.  

In 2026, Walton-Sexton relocated to Wellington-NZ to pursue a Business degree. Joining renowned club Old Boys University, where he was awarded a rugby scholarship, enabling him to further develop both his academic pursuits and rugby career.
