Rising Through Scottish Rugby
From a young age, Thomson has impressed regional coaches, representing Edinburgh at U16 and U18 level. His talent earned him selection for the FOSROC Junior Scottish Academy (2023–24), where he enjoyed a breakthrough year. Career highlights include featuring for Edinburgh U18s in the historic 1872 Cup clash against Glasgow and, most notably, earning Scotland U18 caps against Wales, Italy, and Ireland — an achievement he regards as the greatest honour of his career to date.
A Natural Leader
Respected by teammates and coaches alike, Thomson is a natural leader both on and off the pitch. His strong communication skills have seen him captain his club and regional sides on multiple occasions, cementing his reputation as a trusted figure within any squad. Ahead of this move, Thomson trained full-time with GHA in the Scottish Premiership during the 2025–26 season, while continuing his development with the Scottish U20 PONI Academy.
From Sydney’s Shute Shield to Bahrain RFC
Before making the move to Bahrain, Thomson took his talents overseas to Australia, playing U20 Colts rugby for Gordon Rugby in Sydney’s prestigious Shute Shield. His standout performances and rugby pedigree caught the attention of Bahrain RFC via Oval15.com, culminating in the Middle Eastern club securing the signature of the talented young back.
